MOODS OF THE DESERT
Series inspired by the colours and motifs of rural Rajasthan in India. Bright clothes and the incredible block prints from this region have always fascinated me. In this series I made the collage papers that are peeking through the layers overlaid by layers of glazes and colours.
WALK THROUGH WOODS
I love walking in the woods in Surrey. What fascinates me most is how different my regular walk looks and feels at different times of the year, even different times of the day. In this series I have tried to capture the emotion of the walks through brambles and thickets, crunching dry leaves under my feet and the fresh air in my face.
THE VALLEY I LOVE
My childhood was spent in the most breath-taking environs. the gorgeous valley of Dehradun in the foothills of the imposing Himalayas. I carry with me memories from then and have painted the little things that I remember - the smells of the gardens on summer evenings, the thunder that echoed so loud in the valley, the cold winters with snow up in the mountains, the burst of colours in spring.
LAYERS OF TIME
I got the idea for this series after a trip to Berlin where I saw the remnants of the wall in various parts of the city. When you look at it you can see the layers of graffiti and murals that have been layered one over the other. It is so interesting to peek behind the surface.
WIND BLOWN DORSET
When I returned from a trip to Dorset I painted this series on very small panels from memory. I realised how my memory of the landscape was influenced by the strong wind that beat my face and that is reflected in these mini panels.
